The Mastery Reps: 3 Ways to Destroy Self-Doubt
If you are struggling with self-doubt, read this.
Struggling with self-doubt?
Implement these 3 habits.
You can literally shift your thoughts to your advantage over time by doing these.
Affirmations
So many people struggle with self doubt. I know I certainly did at some point.
But there’s a method towards improving this.
Your mind is capable of becoming your biggest enemy, but it can also become your greatest asset.
To do this, you need to practice self affirmations.
How do you do this?
Anytime you see yourself in a mirror, or reflection in general, compliment yourself.
Tell yourself you look good, and that you’re proud of yourself.
Along with that, if you’re ever faced with a challenge, tell yourself out loud that you’ve got this. That you’re capable of accomplishing the task at hand.
The biggest thing though is this-
If you usually talk shit about yourself, stop.
Words have so much power it’s insane.
Your brain believes whatever words you say even if you know deep down it’s not true.
I used to always talk shit about myself with my friends, even though deep down I didn’t feel as ugly as I said I was.
But because of this, for so many years I dealt with confidence problems.
My solution to this?
Anytime the conversation allowed for me to call myself a handsome mf, I would do it.
I know some people told me later on that at first they thought I was stuck up because I would call myself handsome.
But after they met me and spoke with me they realized I wasn’t just some dickhead lol.
But either way, it doesn’t matter. At the end of the day, it’s impossible for you to be liked by everyone.
It’s okay if you end up having a couple people dislike you, as long as it means that you’re improving your mental health.
Gratitude
It’s extremely important to practice gratitude.
So many people end up having self doubt because they wish they had something else that they don’t.
This often comes with the act of comparison.
So I’m here to also tell you:
Stop comparing yourself and your life to others. What others portray online isn’t their reality.
They are faced with their own personal problems and issues that you don’t know about.
Nobody’s life is “perfect”, so make the most out of what you have.
There’s so many things that people wish they had about you and your life.
Be grateful for what you have, from the smallest to the biggest aspects in your life.
The truth is, God gifted you with the life you have for a reason.
You’re not meant to walk the same path as everyone else.
You are meant to face and overcome your own challenges.
Because that’s what makes each and every single person unique from one another.
So how can you practice gratitude?
A big one is journaling down gratitude sentences.
You can start off with writing three down each day.
An example would be:
“I am grateful for _____”
This could be as simple as being grateful for the roof over your head, or as detailed as you want it to next
It’s up to you, as long as it doesn’t feel like too much of a task.
We want this to become a habit, not something that burns you out.
Gratitude makes you really realize just how amazing your life is.
And in turn, makes you become happy with the life you have.
Don’t try chasing happiness, because you’ll never reach it.
Instead, accept what you have. Be grateful for everything, and in turn happiness will come to you.
Goal setting
To improve self doubt, you need to also have something back yourself up.
To do this, set daily goals, as well as weekly goals for yourself.
You can write these down either in a journal or on your phone, whichever works best for you.
Your daily goals can be simple tasks that you already do on a daily basis to get started.
Why do I say this?
Because preferably you want to build momentum.
After a few days, start adding tasks that you NEED to get done, as well as doing habits that you want to start implementing.
A list of daily goals can be as such:
Do 30 squats
Write 3 gratitude sentences
Practice self affirmations
Do my math homework
Learn 3 new words and their definitions
A list of weekly goals can be as such:
Go to the gym 5 days
Go for a run 3 days
Maintain a deficit at least 6 days
Keep in mind though, some days/weeks you may not complete every goal, and that’s okay.
When it comes to daily matters, it’s all about trying, and learning.
Why didn’t you accomplish said goal?
What can you do better tomorrow?
Take it as lessons, not losses.
What we’re trying to do here is improve your mental health.
It’s important to always see the good in things.
See the cup as half full, not half empty.
Final takeaway:
Believe in yourself.
Be kind and be respectful to yourself as well.
All of these things are meant to help you out long term.
Because the fact of the matter is that self-mastery is a lifelong journey.
So enjoy it.
And remember, if you’re practicing self-improvement, no matter what level you’re in, just know that you’re doing great.
Keep taking steps forward.
Whatever goals you’re striving towards, you’ve got this!
Stay hard.
Stay kind.
